p.s. . . . and I also feel this painting thrumming quietly in my imagination when I listen to the words of "Fan Dance." Isn't it wonderful when music makes you think of paintings, or vice versa? Or a line from literature, or a flavor, or a fragrance? Ah. . . the cross-fertilization of the senses being fed. (Deep sigh). Being alive is wonderful.

Miss S. I don't know you in the face-to-face way, but I've been learning from you for years through your music. Thank you for letting me come on this site. Just one thing to say: there is a painting I think you should see. The picture above reminded me of it, but then your musings on the stratified richnesses, the depth of absorptions, and the layers of soaked-in loves & fears & ecstasies that walls have. . . well, then I knew I wanted to refer you to this wonderful painting. I saw it once years ago, in a British library, in a book when I was working on my Ph.D. in European History. I stared at it, dumbfounded. Later I wrote a tight, ruthless little poem about it, and the inner scenarios it made ring inside my heart. I think you might like it (perhaps you already know it?). If you google it, try to see it as BIG as you can. . . there's so much to see. In some ways, we are all of us the woman in the middle - at other times, we are the men against the wall. The painting is by John Singer Sargent, and it is called "EL JALEO."

That was so lovely, i feel the same way, but not just with rooms but places as well. i think that we leave the vibrations of our lives in the spaces we occupy and the bigger the sound of our lives the bigger the vibration.

Even though there are many a little shy human beings out there, just a few of us can follow the unspoken.
You are definitely one of those, Sam.
