The week of January 25th sees Sam take the reins as Guest Editor at Magnet magazine’s website. In addition to today’s Q&A with writer Jud Cost, Sam will write two posts per day until Sunday, January 31st.
Sam released Cold Dark Night, the second of five EP’s of her Long Play project, exclusively to subscribers through samphillips.com on November 24th. This collection of holiday songs feature two brand new original songs, “Cold Dark Night” and “It Doesn’t Feel Like Christmas”, and Sam’s unique takes on “Silent Night” (featuring the vocals of Joe Henry), “Away in a Manger”, “O Holy Night” and a re-recording of “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear”, which Sam originally recorded in 1992 as the end title for the anti-war film, Midnight Clear.
The EP is available to subscribers in high-quality MP3, FLAC and Apple Lossless formats.
The title track, “Cold Dark Night”, will be released to the general public as a single through iTunes, Amazon MP3 and other digital retailers on December 1st.

Long Play is a year of music. While digging for inspiration and journaling the process of writing and recording, I will release 5 EP’s and a full-length album through samphillips.com. There is no record company involved — this is just between us.
As a subscriber, every two months you will automatically receive a high-quality digital EP made up of new songs, new versions of my old songs, seasonal songs, or previously unreleased songs. (The first EP is entitled “Hypnotists in Paris”; a collaboration between myself and The Section Quartet.)
